Anatomy titles that contain enhanced images will contain a publisher’s note that makes this clear. You enter the image viewer any time you select an image from the main text or from the thumbnails in the “images” tab.
Any figure launched in the image viewer that displays this button:
will have a customizable version.
The “edit/customize” button appears at the bottom of the image tools – the blue toolbar on the left-hand side. Pressing this button will open a new browser window. You may return to the image viewer by either closing that window or simply re-selecting the correct window.
The “Zoom” function begins at “1” and allows you to reduce the image size by 50% or enlarge it by up to 500%.
The toggle switches beneath “Zoom” allows you to toggle labels and leader line on and off, and to select label size. Label size normally looks best at “medium” or “large” if the figure is being enlarged.
Here are examples of the same figure with labels and leaders on or off:
Labels “On” / Leaders “On”
Labels “Off” / Leaders “On”
Labels “Off” / Leaders “Off”
There is a “save to desktop” button that will enable download of the figure as you have edited it.
Be aware that some browser security settings may prevent the download, and you may need to modify settings via a warning message.
